A very large, very successful, and very well-respected independent distributor, Mayer Electric Supply has long been considered a leader in their industry, and a trusted advisor to other distributors who look to them to lead the way in terms of progressive technologies and business processes.
Mayer had an established e-commerce presence but was looking to expand their online catalog. They saw gaps in “web-ready” information that was available through traditional industry data sources and had started reaching out to manufacturers directly for more and better e-commerce-rich product information.
With over 80,000 SKUs now on their site, they also wanted to offload the extensive data management requirements of their product content to a third-party expert, freeing up their in-house staff for other projects. Mayer chose DDS as their partner for next-generation e-commerce product content and data management.
One challenge during the initial implementation process was getting much of DDS’ enhanced product content into their existing (Unilog) site due to some technical limitations of that platform. This was one reason they ultimately decided to switch to Insite Commerce, which has proven to be a much more accommodating and robust platform with vastly better customer service.
According to Mayer, the content DDS is delivering to their site is exponentially better than what they had before, and we continue to work closely with them to add more manufacturers, more products and more next-generation content to their weekly, automated feed.
